Product and production: Porsche set 2028 as the first full production year for the electric 718 and also planned a combustion and plug-in B-segment SUV. Jaguar published Type 01, with 118 kWh and up to 1,030 PS, and deliveries expected in the second half of 2027. Honda moved the North American next-generation CR-V hybrid from around February 2027 to April or later.

Autonomy: Germany backed a Tesla speed offset of up to 10 percent, and the EU vote slipped to December at the earliest. A Reuters investigation said the European safety study tracks driving-behavior proxies. Uber confirmed an investment in Zagreb's Verne, with no amount disclosed.

Markets: The KBA counted 256,774 new cars in Germany in September, including 88,599 battery EVs, a 34.5% share. Tesla registered 12,552, up 268.7%. U.S. EV share is close to 6% this year. Rivian delivered 19,248 vehicles in the third quarter, and Tesla sold 486,532, down 2.1%.

Product and platforms: Hyundai opened U.K. orders for the IONIQ 3 from £18,495 after the grant. Verne's chief executive confirmed that Uber has invested; no amount was disclosed.

Autonomy: Volvo and Waabi started hauling freight for Warp between Dallas and Houston, with an observer still in the driver's seat. Moia began invited passenger rides on fixed routes in Orlando, with staff who can intervene.

Charging: The National Energy Administration reported 2.9686 million highway charging sessions and 71.6193 million kilowatt-hours over the first three National Day days, up 48.41% and 49.39%. China Southern Power Grid's Shun Yichong platform delivered 10.4431 million kilowatt-hours on the holiday's first day. Industry: AFP said U.S. automakers are shifting production home, while supplier investment fell from more than $8 billion in the first quarter of 2025 to about $600 million over the next two quarters. Hyundai sold 307,998 vehicles worldwide in September, down 16%.

Charging and batteries: Highway charging in China on the first day of the National Day holiday was 28.0469 million kWh, up 60.40%. BMW opened its Bavarian sixth-generation battery plant on October 1. Germany's network regulator approved storage and bidirectional-charging rules, with network implementation due by the end of September 2027.

Autonomy and safety: GM placed eyes-off highway driving for the Cadillac Escalade IQ in 2028. California's SB 1246, effective July 2028, allows fines when a robotaxi blocks emergency responders for more than 30 minutes. Tesla said an emergency pull-away can cause up to $25,000 in Supercharger damage. Rivian recalled about 14 R2s.

Market: BYD sold 463,561 NEVs in September, up 16.98%, while the first nine months were still down 3.94%. Leapmotor delivered 105,656, and Xpeng, Nio, and Li Auto split across the 30,000 to 40,000 range.
